Everything you need to pack for a vacation to Cabo

June 09, 2022

If your trip is booked and it’s down to crunch time, it’s time to start thinking about what to pack for your vacation to Cabo. It doesn’t matter whether you’re coming to Los Cabos for a girl’s weekend, a family vacation, or you just need a little time away from day-to-day life, there’s nothing like the experience when you first touch down in this part of Mexico.

The good news is, you’re going to the beach, so you don’t have to worry about lots of bulky clothing taking up precious space in your suitcase. While you obviously don’t want to forget your swimsuit, you’ll also probably want to pack a sunhat, some sunglasses and, of course, sunscreen. The sun is fierce in this part of the world, and you don’t want a sunburn to ruin your beach vacation. While you’re at it, you may want to pack some bug spray too, because you’ll probably be spending a lot of time outdoors.

If you’re not in your swimsuit, you’ll probably be wearing a coverup, shorts and a casual shirt, or even a sundress. Pack some sandals or flipflops, too. You can go right from the sand to walking around town in something casual. Because you don’t have to worry about cold weather, it frees up space in your suitcase for what you need, and even just what you think you need.

If you’re planning on eating out, keep in mind some restaurants in Cabo do have a dress code. If you know what you need for a night out, you won’t be caught off-guard. Usually, a sundress or pants with a collared shirt will work just fine.

If you’re there between July and September, prepare for an occasional rain shower. If you’re traveling to Cabo between December and May, the days are hot, but it can get chilly at night, so you may want a light jacket or sweater for nights out on the deck or sitting around the firepit.

If you’re planning on doing some excursions while you’re in Cabo, you may want to pack some closed-toe shoes for hiking, or some special equipment. To free up space, check ahead to see whether you can rent things like scuba and snorkeling gear in Cabo.

Even if you’ve pre-paid for just about everything on your trip, you may want to pack a little extra cash. You might find you need it for taxis or other expenses along the way.
